I finished the book a while ago. I was wondering about everyone else it seems like everyone is really busy so I haven't asked but then someone left a comment so I thought I would. I have also checked out the Indian Captive from the library and have been kind of waiting to see when everyone else will start.

There's a first time for everything!
Wow, I actually made my first bloggy post!! (Missy Raine are you proud of me :)
I was wondering how many of you out there have received your book and how far you've gotten? I stopped at chapter 10 so I don't read too far ahead. But I was thinking maybe we could get together on Sat Aug. 9th or 16th at my house for the next meeting? What do you all think of the book so far? I hesitate to comment too much so that I don't spoil what's happened for those who haven't read it yet. This has been a hard book for me to read at times. I had no idea when I suggested the book, that what Laura went through while in her coma would hit so close to home. I have been brought to tears many times by the similarities and so humbled to be reminded of what God did for my daughter. Without monitors, feeding tubes, or physical therapists but purely by the prayers of my faithful brethren and the loving hand of our glorious Father. How truly miraculous it is that we have her today.

Time to Start...
"Mistaken Identity"!! All the ladies here in Oregon haven't gotten our books in the mail yet, so we're waiting to see how much we should start reading. Has anyone else received their books? I think when I was at borders I saw that there were 21 chapters. Might seem really big to you, but they are kinda short chapters, and from what I've read so far (2 chapters) its really good!! I'll keep you updated on how far we'll read to when we all get the books.
Also, we pulled another book from the hat. So! The next book is called, "Indian Captive." This book has gotten a Newberry Award, so this should be good! Sis. Brittany said it's an easy, short read. :)
Sister Cari, we put "The Shack" in the hat. Once its in the hat it'll stay in there until we pick it. Each lady gets to put one book in, and once they're all picked we'll put more in. We want everyone to get a chance to read the book they've put in the hat.
Is anyone going to go on and read more of the Narnia books?

What Chapter did you get to?

Hi Book Club Ladies,
Well, we had our 1st book club meeting after we had started reading "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" on Saturday. It was fun! We met at Daughter A's house and had tea and cookies while the kids played in the other room and we chatted. It was right after our guys had left for their River Rafting trip, so we were relaxed and had plenty of time to discuss and eat. LOL! I was really upset at myself for forgetting my camera, but Sis. Lorri, Daughter A's momma had hers and she took pics of us girls. As soon as she sends me some on email, I will post them. We were supposed to get to a certain point in the book, but of course of few of us, myself included, hadn't gotten quite that far yet. But it was still fun to hear everyone's thoughts on these questions:
1. Who was your favorite character?
2. Who was your least favorite character?
3. Who is C.S. Lewis anyway, did he write anything else?
4. What did you learn?
5. Where there any spiritual implications in the book?
It was fun to hear everyone's answers, and I confess the Librarian in me waxed eloquent a little too much on who C.S. Lewis was and what other books he wrote. Sorry girls! I'll try and control myself next time. We all agreed to finish the rest of the book and meet again at my house on July 18th in the evening right after our men leave for their Hiking Trip. So, we've all gotta get busy and read the rest of the book!
Don't forget to look on Half.com for the next book we will be reading, "Mistaken Identity: Two Families, One Survivor, Unwavering Hope" by Don & Susie Van Ryn, Newell, Colleen & Whitney Cerak, and Mark Tabb.
So, what chapter did you get to?

Ladies,
Would anybody like to be e-mailed when theres a new post up or when someone comments? Blogger has it set up that if you want to receive e-mails when something new has happened on the blog, they'll send an e-mail. This doesn't mean you'll be getting random spam e-mails from other places. You'll just be getting an e-mail saying so-and-so commented or published on the blog. It just helps so you don't have to come back every day if nothing new has been commented on or published. If you'd like to have e-mails sent to you, just let me know and I'll put your e-mail up for you.
Also, Sis. Brittany said there is a website that you can go to call half.com it's a website for books that are half price. I think Britt and Sis. Dayna got their Narnia books for $0.75 each. Shipping was a couple dollars more, but that might help just in case you can't find a book at your local library, and much cheaper then buying it at bookstores and sometimes amazon.com. We'll all probably be buying the "Mistaken Identity" book because it's so new in our library and a hot pick since it's a "New York Best Sellers" book.

Our First Meeting
Alright Ladies, we had our first meeting today with all the sisters! We've decided to read up to the 9th Chapter. That means you stop at the 9th chapter...no reading it at all!! ;) We'll be getting together on July 5th for our next meeting. So have all your chapters read by then. We'll be discussing stuff about the book, and we'll post it on here too.
Also, we have picked our next book. This way you all have time to get the book! It's called "Mistaken Identity". Once we start the Mistaken Identity book, we'll be picking out of a bag again, so again, if you have any book ideas please let us know. Try not to pick a book you've already read before, please!
And the last thing I should ask is: What do you all think about reading fantasies? I know some people aren't into witches, vampires, wizards, etc. So, please let us know if that's a problem and we'll not pick or choose any of those kinds of books. We don't want to offend anyone!!
And remember, any of you can post things on this blog, not just comments! So, feel free.

Book Reviews
I was searching forever and ever this morning after Sis. Dayna wrote a comment on this blog about Reviews for books, for a place that shows reviews AND ratings for books and movies. After spending about an hour, my brother walked in the room as I mentioned to mom that I wished there was a rating site for books, and he quickly told me there was this great site he goes to for movies, games and books. Thank you Jonny!!
This site is very cool because it rates it by: Language, sex, the message, and violence, and then rates it by what age groups should and could read it, and has difference colors for the rating. Green is great, Yellow has a little bit of stuff in it, and Red is pretty bad. Anyways I just thought this might help people that see books and don't know if it's going to be appropriate or not. So, Sis. Dayna, we found the site for you!! :)

Book Ideas
Okay ladies! Starting this Sunday, us sisters here in Oregon are getting together to figure out how many chapters we'll be reading for "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", and we'll be throwing out book ideas for the next book we want to read. Getting through the Narnia book will probably be quick because it's so short. Do any of you have some ideas for what we should read next? Once we get a few ideas I'll post a little poll thing on the side of this page and let you all vote what you want to read. Mom and I came up with some books, like(I made them all links to Amazon books so you can read about them): "Gone with the Wind", "Jacob Have I Loved", "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn", "Peace Like A River", and "Walk Two Moons". We're doing this ahead of time so that people can go to the library and put the book we choose on hold if they need to, or go and buy it.
And what do you think about reading a book of every genre such as: A biography, Classics, Mystery, Romance, and any other genres out there. We could just keep it to just voting on books, but maybe this would make it fun-er to read all sorts of books instead of just classics all the time, or just romances all the time. Just a thought I'm putting out there.
Oh yes, and don't forget that if you're really not into reading books, there's always a choice of listening to them on CD or tape, and getting them from the library. We have a few here that aren't into actually sitting down to read, but they're going to try getting books on CD/Tape and see if that keeps their attention and keeps them entertained. :)
So, bring on the ideas ladies!

The Book Club
Alrighty, so June 22 we've decided to all get together and start a book club with the sisters in Oregon. Mom, Mandy and I thought it'd be a fun idea to have the sisters from all around the US join us too. We're not going to be reading lots of chapters all at once. We'll be getting together every 2 weeks (hopefully) and talking and deciding what chapters we want to read next.
The first book we'll be reading is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. And when we get together we'll be putting book ideas in a hat for the next book we read after the Narnia book. So, if you have any books you want to read, give us a list and we'll add it to the hat! But, (I know I probably don't have to mention this) keep the books you pick appropriate for everyone, please! Oh and now that I think about it, we could also put up a vote on this blog for which books we want to read instead of putting them in a hat.
Also, all the girls that are joining have access to posting on this blog whenever they feel like it. So feel free. I just need emails to add you, if you want to do that. :) If you have anymore questions, just ask!
